Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is well-known for her stellar performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Her movie Piano was awarded an Oscar. Actresses have an extensive career of involvement in Broadway, Off-Broadway and other productions. From the time she was a child she's always been enthusiastic about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. After suffering from the mumps, she became blind on the other side of her ears. This didn't stop her from pursuing her dream to become an actor. The college she attended was drama before moving to Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dreams. Hunter was trapped in an elevator with playwright Beth Henley when she met her. Together they created Broadway Crimes of the Heart that marked the debut of Hunter on Broadway. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. She landed one as an actress supporting the leading character Swing Shift. Over the past three decades, she has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was also awarded her the Women in Film Lucy Award.
